WHAT IS KARAOKE?

The concept of karaoke, singing with pre-recorded accompaniment music, originated almost thirty five years ago in Kobe City, Japan.

The legend goes that in a small snack bar, when the accompaniment musician fell ill, the owner started to record his instrumental music so that his vocal singer could perform with the recorded music as his accompaniment orchestra, and the concept of KARAOKE was born.

In Japanese, the word "kara" meaning empty (as in "karate" which means empty handed) and "oke," an abbreviation from the word orchestra, have been joined together to form the word 'KARAOKE' meaning empty orchestra.

Since then, this revolutionary concept has spread and developed throughout the Western World and Southeast Asia including Korea, Bangkok, and Singapore. In Indian music, Ithe concept of karaoke or singing with pre-recorded orchestra was pioneered by ANIRUDDH in late 1986. Aniruddh published the first karaoke album in hindi and Bengali in 1988. The concept started getting more and more popular in early 90's. In 1995, Music of India Incorporated published over twenty five karaoke albums created by ANIRUDDH which can be marked as the advent of Indian Karaoke. Over the last two decades, ANIRUDDH has created over one hundred karaoke albums in hindi music. Amongst many other karaoke albums published by numerous different music publishers, to date, ANIRUDDHS karaoke music are recognized across the world of karaoke Singers to be the best in karaoke.
